Thoughts that inspired the song Struck

 

In one of her books Corrie Ten Boom quotes a few lines of an inspiring hymn that went something like this:

“Deep in the human heart crushed by the Tempter

Feelings lie buried only grace can restore.”

 

I started to think how sometimes we as Christians are “struck down (Paul’s words) but not destroyed”. We can get really seriously hurt and so feel weak sometimes for a long time. When we listen to and hear God’s word (– when we read the Bible willing to hear and when the Holy Spirit brings just the right thing to our minds at just the right time) we receive fresh faith, hope and love that revives us and helps us endure and overcome our difficulties. Because He speaks to us words of life, our strength increases and we are able to find, follow and obey Jesus with renewed vision. This is all because “Faith comes by hearing and hearing from the word of God”. The more we hear God’s word the more the shield of our faith will increase. Praise God.
